Functional Enhancements

  • Display Error Message Only When Needed — The Error Message field now appears only when an Access Request encounters an error, keeping records clean and easier to read.
  • Email Alerts for Access Request Errors — When an Access Request hits an error, the system automatically notifies the requester, approvers, and affected user with details and a direct link to review the issue.

Access Management Enhancements

  • Assign Permission Sets — Access Request can now assign and revoke Permission Sets in addition to Profiles. The system grants or removes the Permission Set based on the request’s schedule.
  • Assign Permission Set Groups — You can now assign and revoke Permission Set Groups with the same automated timing and approval logic as Permission Sets.
  • Enforce Maximum Access Duration — Admins can set a max access duration per Access Request Type. Requests exceeding it show a validation error.

Technical Update

  • Updated to the latest Data Access Framework. No user-facing changes; existing functionality continues to work as before.

Core Objects & Fields

  • Introduced core objects: Access Request and Access Request Type.
  • Access Request: Includes Status, Access Start/End Date & Time, User Requiring Access, and Type lookup.
  • Access Request Type: Includes Type (e.g., Profile), Requires Final Review, Capture Setup Audit Trail, and Approval Queue ID.
  • Added Error Details field for admin troubleshooting (see Error Tracking below).

Permission Sets

  • Access Request User: Create/view requests with essential access; read Access Request Type.
  • Access Request Administrator: Full management of Requests & Types.

History Tracking (Access Request & Type)

  • Field History Tracking enabled for both objects for audit and compliance.
  • Admins and users can view tracked changes; non-authorized users cannot.

Approval Emails

  • When a request enters Waiting for Approval, approvers receive emails with the most relevant request details.

Auto-Revoke Elevated Access

  • At the Access End Date and Time, elevated profile is removed.
  • Original profile is restored; request status updates accordingly.

Setup Audit Trail Attachment

  • On revocation, a Setup Audit Log is attached to the Access Request.
  • Includes activity during the elevated access window; view-only for authorized users.

Final Review Workflow

  • Admins can enable/disable Requires Final Review per Access Request Type.
  • Approval flow moves requests to Pending Final Review, then to Complete or Rejected.

Final Review Email Notification

  • When access is revoked and final review is required, approvers receive an email to complete the review.

Error Tracking & Notifications

  • New statuses: Error - Pending Review, Error - Resolved.
  • Error Details field captures failure info for faster troubleshooting.
  • Automatic email alert when an error occurs.

Post Deployment Script

  • Added a post deployment script to simplify setup after installation:new veritech.PostInstallHandler().onInstall();
  • Refer to the Installation Guide for steps to run this script.
  • Note: The user executing this script must have the System Administrator profile.
